If you were to cut off a body part (except your hair), which one would it be and why?

Lose my ears - then I wouldn't be wet behind the ears.

Without ears my hearing would be only slightly impaired, not a great loss. And although I would no longer be able to lend someone an ear, nor grin from ear to ear, other than those I'd have nothing to lose. Except support for my eyeglasses, but I could always get contacts.
