Is Cartimar just like Divisoria?

Right now Cartimar is undergoing massive renovation. It may look ugly & uncomfortable right now but watch out, soon it'll be dazzling. It's true, pets are bestsellers there, especially if you wish to buy dogs. But the shoe stores are still there, offering good quality & affordable prices. There's this one shoe store that I've bought 3 shoes already. They're good & they've got great elections. They even brag about their customers not coming back! Why? Because they're VERY satisfied with the shoes they bought years ago! As for me, well, I travel a lot & it's no surprise my shoes wore out after a few years. But that's ok, at least it lasted that long! If you go buy at Greenhills, expect shoddy shoes. They're cheap, 500 pesos, but are worn out in a month. Cartimar's a good place to buy dogs & shoes. They also sell plants, birds, pet food & cages, bikes, pet accessories, & of course, more shoes. I'm told the new buildings being built are for pet stores. These are what you'll find over there. Happy shopping!

What is the best restaurant to eat native dishes?

Starbucks or kape barako?

In my own opinion, it depends...Example: Starbucks got a lot of flavors but a little bit expensive here in the Philippines. So, I only buy 2 packs per year.Barako, I have it all year round. Anytime I need it, I just put some in the coffee maker. Very affordable. So, If you are living in the Philippines, Barako is the main choice. Oops, to all who read my post: Please try Sagada Coffee from Baguio City. It is also a fine quality Philippine coffee and cheap too! P250 in their 450 gram box.

How would you say goodbye to someone you don't want to leave?

Softly, I will leave you softly
For my heart would break if you should wake and see me go

So I leave you softly
Long before you miss me
Long before your arms can beg me stay for one more hour
Or one more day

How true is it that Taft Avenue is unsafe?

It's unsafe if you are careless. I mean, it is true that there are a lot of snatchers and crooks there, but if you are cautious enough, you won't become a victim. For instance, try to not walk around Pedro Gil and PGH at night. Don't go to Intramuros alone, and always hold on to your bags *real* tight when on a bus or jeepney. Don't expose your phone and wallet to the world while using them.
Any place is unsafe if the person isn't being careful. Just use some precautionary measures and you won't be harmed. ^_^

If you are forced to make an ultimate sacrifice, what would you give up: marriage or career?

I would more than likely give up the career. My family means a lot to me and I don't believe that any job should have that much control over you to put your marriage at stake. Most jobs will look at both factors if you are a true asset to their organization.

Graft and corruption is already part of our system of governance...?

the systems has been in existence ever since we where still not born... and this is true all over the world and not just in the philippines... how to eradicate this problem??? its not easy as taking a candy from a child... it has to come form the people who cause it... and those are the citizens themselves... if people dont give bribes just to get away from something or to manipulate a deal.. then corruption cud have not existed...

Is there a school here in the Philippines who teaches 3d animations and stuffs?

Yes, there is. The De La Salle - College of St. Benilde. De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde (DLS-CSB, CSB or simply Benilde), is a private Catholic college and member institution of De La Salle Philippines located in the vicinity of Malate, located along Taft Avenue across the street from De La Salle University-Manila.

The college uses learner-centered instruction and offers innovative degree and non-degree programs designed for the development of professionals in the arts, design, management, service industries, computer applications in business, and special fields in study. The college has also pioneered several degree offerings different from what regular universities and colleges in the Philippines had.

Im actually a student of this college. My course is AB-MMA (Bachelor of Arts- Multimedia Arts). This course offers subjects like 3d animation, 2d animation, photography, basics of drawing and many many more. Some of our professors studied and worked in abroad. Some had worked for big companies like Pixars so they really now what they are teaching. We also have a professor working in ABS-CBN, the no. 1 broadcast station in the Philippines. If you are really interested in studying things like this, i recommend De La Salle - College of St. Benilde. Ow, recently, they opened a new building for School of Design Arts student like me, it was really big and named as the "jewel in the crown of the De La Salle University System schools", it is a 14-storey building.

Can money buy love?

Money can not buy love for love is priceless.

I am sorry to hear about those guys who have bad experience about women wanting money from them. But don't you think its you who choose those women? Its the lover and not the love as the popular song says....You have know how to respect someone, love them unconditionally and accept them with all their flaws. You can have a companion or a partner in bed if you have money but they will all be gone in time.

I have known a lot of people happily married..and I wish I too will have that kind of relationship.

Which college courses are best to take in the Philippines?

Nursing...i'm a nurse who studied in one of the country's top universities and currently employed in a teaching hospital here in the US. i could give you a thousand and one reasons why the Nursing education is better in the Phils but it will take up too much space here. so i'll try to summarize it: Nursing in the Philippines teaches you K-S-A (knowledge, skills, attitude). Nursing schools in the Philippines (at least mine) help build your knowledge of nursing fundamentals, theories and procedures so you can hone your clinical skills while developing the right attitude towards caring for your patients in any setting.

What excites you more - going on a trip or coming home?

I always like the calming effect of coming home. But precisely because coming home is "calming", it can not be exciting. Anything and everything about home is usual and expected.

On the other hand, the prospect of adventure, of discovery, and of the unknowns on a trip will definitely shoot your adrenalin up.

When do you consider a man is strong? Is it in his physique? In his character?

A man is measured by the strength of his character. Only floozies will pick a better-built man versus one who may not be as physically strong but has his future charted out, by his own design, fueled by drive and perseverance for the long haul.

"Ignorance of the law excuses no one." How would you explain this?

In the news today, a professor at Assumption was convicted with finality for rape. He had sex with a 17-year old student. he said they were lovers.

But the law says you can not have sex with minors (unless you are married, and the marriage has parental consent). And that it is otherwise called RAPE.

The clueless (?) professor was declared guilty, "ignorant" of that law.

Bottomline, the courts will never let you off with an "I'm sorry I did not know it was illegal" alibi. Dura lex, sed lex.

Why can i think better when cramming?

People respond differently to pressure. I guess you're one of those that respond positively. Some people make more mistakes while some people get "charged up" and think more clearly. This is because your brain acts like it does when faced with competition. This time, you're competing against Time. You either start to worry too much and end up not focusing on the task at hand. Or you start to realize how much you have left to accomplish. Like when a surge of adrenaline can make you shaky and unfocused or boost your thinking process.

They also say that women tend to work better when faced with competition than when working alone. But curiously, women perform better when competing against other women, maybe in you case, you can say that you're competing against yourself as well? :)

I am going to dagupan, any good hotels or restaurants?

Dagupan is the biggest city in Pangasinan Province, and is highly urbanized. The best hotel is Star Plaza, and the rate is about P1,000+. Other good hotels are Victoria (rather old), Floren, and Value Star whre rooms are at around P600-700 per day.

Eating out is good. Other than the international fast food outlets, you can enjoy the local restaurants. D’Original dawel is top choice for seafoods.

Enjoy Dagupan!

What is the sweetest place in manila?

Actually it depends.
If you're like the city type then Makati is a good place. It's like full of shopping and hotels etc. If you're a beach kind of person Boracay is defiantly the best, but if you don't want to be THAT far from manila you could go to Punta Fuego they have really nice beaches there too or in Sorsogon in Bicol you could like swim with the whales there. But if you're just the type who goes site seeing then maybe Cebu or Bohol is a good place.

how do i cook tortang talong?

250 g. of ground lean pork
1 tbsp. of finely minced garlic
1/2 c. of finely chopped onions
3/4 c. of coarsely chopped tomatoes
1 bell pepper, finely chopped
4 eggs, beaten
1 tbsp. of flour
4-5 talong (eggplants)
salt and pepper
cooking oil

Cooking procedure :

Mix together all the ingredients except the eggplants and the cooking oil.

Cook the eggplants (boil, steam, grill or broil) until soft but not mushy. Peel off the skins, leaving the stems intact. Using a fork, flatten the meat of the eggplants. Divide the pork mixture into as many eggplants you prepared. Place the mixture on the flattened eggplants, patting the meat to make sure it is compact.

Heat a skillet or wok. Add about 2 tbsp. of cooking oil and heat until smoking. Carefully slide one stuffed eggplant onto the hot oil. Cook over medium-high heat, about 5-7 minutes on each side or until golden brown. Add more cooking oil as you cook a new eggplant.

Serve with catsup.

If you want a really special tortang talong, lay a slice of cheese on the flattened eggplant before adding the pork mixture on top.

If your birthday falls in Feb. 29, does it mean that you will celebrate your birthday in every 4 yrs?

One of my past classmates was born on February 29. What he and his parents did was, they celebrate his birthday every 28th, except during leapyears, when he can actually celebrate his birthday on the right date. :)

Have you read "The Little Prince?"?

The Little Prince is a story of love, relationship, and friendship... it tells how the protagonist (the little prince) came to learn important life lessons through experience...Personally, it is my most favorite book

The sheep is an "imaginary" pet that the prince requested from the pilot. He (the little prince) wanted a sheep so that when he comes home to his little planet, the sheep will eat the baobab seedlings that can potentially destroy his little planet. You see, the little prince's home is so small that when a baobab seedling grows, the planet will be destroyed. That's why the little prince have to tend the planet regularly and see to it that no baobab seedling will have the chance to grow.

The rose is the little prince's "love". From the story, the "flower" drifted to the little prince's planet from another place, and since it is the first time the prince saw something as beautiful as the rose, he cultivated it and took care of it...However, the little prince eventually had to desert the rose and leave the planet because he thought the rose doesn't love him (the rose finds it hard to express her real feelings for the prince and often drives him away). Nevertheless, even if the prince left the rose, his thoughts and his heart is filled with the rose's memory throughout the story. An additional note: the little prince's relationship with the rose is often compared to the relationship of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry with his wife.

The ending was that the prince got himself bitten by a snake because he longs to get home and be with his rose again. The snake was introduced earlier the in the story, and it was the snake who offered the little prince a "way" to go home again. Now, since the little prince's rose is all alone in his little planet, and his little planet needs to be tended regularly or else it will be destroyed by the baobabs, it can be safely assumed that the rose already died and his home already destroyed (as both the rose and the little prince's home cannot tend to themselves alone). So technically, it means he has no rose and no planet to come home to...and the only way to be with his rose again through death...

No, the little prince didn't turn into a star. The solitary star in the ending of the book just represents the little prince's absence and lingering presence in the life of the pilot...

Prostitution in the philippines?

Prostitution is not necessarily the profession of choice exclusive to the destitute. A high-earning population doesn't guarantee the eradication of prostitutes; if at all, the price of their services will just go higher. For that matter, having a well-educated populace doesn't help either. For as long as there are willing clients (MEN!) out there, there will always be girls willing to work for the easy buck. And that is their business and nobody else's. It is not our place to judge nor to condemn nor to moralize.

The government (or the church) is NOT the moral agent on whom we should entrust our country's prostitution problem. The best they can do (and I hope they strictly enforce it) is to regulate the activities of this business. For one thing, child prostitution should be illegal at all costs and the clientele/patrons should be severely punished to the fullest extent of the law. Also, health requirements should be put in place. We can not stop them - that's for sure - so let's at least make sure they are not carriers of STDs.

How can I fill my prescriptions in the Philippines?

1. Get them in advance...Medicare from the States does not work here.

2. I don't know your prescription plan. (but probably don't work either).

3. Not all medication can be bought over the counter (don't take the chance)

4. They may not have the medication you need (alot of the meds. are from Germany and work differently-been there done that).

5. Medication is pretty cheap here, what would cost me a couple of thousand dollars per month in the States is costing me only about $40.U.S.D. here.

6. If you do buy medication here Try to use Rose Pharmacy, or Mercury Drugs they are the best and cheapest.

Illustrate and explain the autobiography of Rizal

José Rizal (full name: José Protacio Mercado Rizal Alonso y Realonda) (June 19, 1861 – December 30, 1896), was a Filipino polymath, nationalist and the most prominent advocate for reforms in the Philippines during the Spanish colonial era and its eventual independence from Spain. He is considered a national hero and the anniversary of Rizal's death is commemorated as a Philippine holiday called Rizal Day. Rizal's 1896 military trial and execution made him a martyr of the Philippine Revolution.

The seventh of eleven children born to a middle class family in the town of Calamba, Laguna, Rizal attended the Ateneo Municipal de Manila, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree sobresaliente. He enrolled in the University of Santo Tomas Faculty of Medicine and Surgery and the University of Santo Tomas Faculty of Philosophy and Letters, and then traveled alone to Madrid, Spain where he studied medicine at the Universidad Central de Madrid, earning the degree of Licentiate in Medicine. He attended the University of Paris and earned a second doctorate at the University of Heidelberg. Rizal was a polyglot conversant in at least ten languages.[1][2][3][4] He was a prolific poet, essayist, diarist, correspondent, and novelist whose most famous works were his two novels, Noli me Tangere and El Filibusterismo.[5] These are social commentaries on the Philippines that formed the nucleus of literature that inspired dissent among peaceful reformists and spurred the militancy of armed revolutionaries against 333 years of Spanish rule.

As a political figure, Rizal was the founder of La Liga Filipina, a civic organization that subsequently gave birth to the Katipunan[6] led by Bonifacio and Aguinaldo. He was a proponent of institutional reforms by peaceful means rather than by violent revolution. The general consensus among Rizal scholars, however, attributed his martyred death as the catalyst that precipitated the Philippine Revolution.

What are the reason or factors why Rizal was considered creole?

A Creole may refer to someone of mix culture. In the case of Jose Rizal, his father was a prosperous landowner and sugar planter of Chinese-Filipino descent. He therefore inherited his father's mixed heritage; hence he was considered a Creole too.

What cellphone brand and model you like, and why?

I dont know exactly what kind of cellphone you need...but for me as a basic cellphone the Sony Ericsson K810i. It has a 3.2 mp cam and really takes good photos. Sometimes I'm too lazy to bring my digital cam with me so this phone is perfect for me for those Kodak moments or anything interesting to take photos of.
For a business phone its about to come out the Sony Ericsson P1i , it pretty much have everything in it. Cam, internet capability, mms, video etc.

I dont buy Nokia anymore unless from the US since I find their quality lately cheap and the fact that their monetary value depreciates faster than SE brand.

Right now I have the K810i already and an old mini O2.

Chive Spray
A spray can be made out of the tea and can be used for apple scab or powdery mildew. cover chopped chives with boiling water: just enough to cover them. Infuse for 15 minutes and use undiluted.

Elder Spray

Garlic Spray
Garlic spray is an effective fungicide. Unfortunately it also kills insects and should be used with discretion. It is very effective against brown rot and can be sprayed on fruit after it has been picked. Prepare same as Ants and Cockroach Spray, but leave the cayenne pepper out.

Horsetail Spray
This is a mildly preventive for mildew. Spray fortnightly. Boil 20g of horsetail leaves with one liter of water for half an hour. Strain and spry. Use at the rate of 1 liter to cover an area of q0 meters by 10 meters for the first spray, then dilute with 50 percent more water for subsequent sprays.

Horsetail Spray 2
Use 40 grams of the fresh herb, or half of the dried herb, 4 liters of water and boil for 20 minutes. Add a little pure soap as a spreader, cool and strain. You can add 11/2 cup of pyrethrum daisy for Insect Pests.
Equisetum's rich content of silica, calcium and cobalt and other minerals can make an effective fungicide for black spot, mildew, dampening off diseases, wilt, scale, anthaenose and other fungal diseases, on garden plants. Use the Equisetum tea fortnightly to aid the health of trees, ornamentals, vegetables and herbs. The spray is not a cure but, a preventative.

Pyrethrum Spray
Pyrethrum spray or dust may be made from pulverized pyrethrum (Tanacetum cinerarifolium) flowers or from feverfew (Tanacetum parthenium) flowers, often incorrectly called pyrethrum. They have a similar effect, but the true pyrethrum is more effective.

1 tablespoon pyrethrum powder or 2 tablespoons flowers or 4 tablespoons feverfew flowers

Cover flowers with alcohol (like brandy or sherry) or mineral oil overnight, then cover with 1 liter of hot water for an hour. Soapy water is best but not necessary. It helps the spray stick on the plant. Strain and use. Never boil pyrethrum, the fumes are toxic.

Rue
Grow Rue around the house to repel flies, stable flies and mosquitoes. This is an excellent insect repellent.

Rhubarb leaves are poisonous. It is also harmless to bees and breaks down quickly. Boil 1kg rhubarb leaves in 3 liters of water for half an hour. Add enough soap to color and dilute with equal proportions of water before spraying. Keep out of the reach of children and label Poison.

Seaweed Spray
Wash salt from seaweed, cover with water for three weeks. Strain off as much water as you need, dilute till it is the color of weak tea and spray. This will strengthen a plant's resistance to a range of infections. It is also a mild fungicide and repeated use should cut down brown rot, curly leaf and other such problems. It can be used at any time of the year, but spray at night in hot weather.

Sugar Spray
Dissolve 2 kg sugar in a bucket of water. Drench the soil to kill nematodes. Molasses can also be used but don't use honey as it may transmit disease to bees.

Wormwood Spray
Wormwood kills and repels fleas and other pests like flies, months and mosquitoes. Cover leaves with boiling water and leave for three hours. Dilute with four parts water.

Anyone here familiar with the radioactive pill to cure hyperthyroidism? how much will it cost and where?

i was given this choice when i had to have my thyroid removed because of hyperthyroidism about 10 years ago. i chose to have the surgery for a few reasons:

1) the studies regarding longterm fertility effects as a result of the pill haven't been completed yet, so there could be effects we don't know about yet. of course, you're a male i take it, so this probably won't affect you.

2) you have to be sequestered in your home when you take the pill. that means no interacting with people, etc. you can't even use the same utensils other people in your house are using.

3) the thought of putting something radioactive into my body just didn't sound right.

4) the surgery technique has improved so greatly over the years that the good outweighs the bad. my scar is pretty small, but i've seen people's scars who had the surgery in the years since i got mine, and theirs are practically nonexistent. the cut they make is so small now, it heals in no time.

talk with your doctors to make an informed decision. myself, i'm more than happy with the outcome of my surgery. i mean, it's a major surgery and with that comes the same concerns you'd have with anything of that nature. the recovery did suck. but i would make the same decision again if i had to. good luck!
